Edward (Ted) R. Smith, Partner Ted Smith is a Partner in UNION SQUARE ADVISORS. Prior to co-founding Union Square in 2006, Mr. Smith was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he headed the global software investment banking practice within CSFB’s technology investment banking group. Mr. Smith began his professional career as a distributed computing researcher working under a grant from the IBM Corporation. He then joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 as a member of the firm's technology investment banking group. From 1994 to early 1997, Mr. Smith was a member of Novell's Business and Corporate Development groups, most recently as Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Smith returned to investment banking in 1997 as a Vice President and Head of Internet and Services in the Deutsche Morgan Grenfell technology group, from which he joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1998. Mr. Smith received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and is a member of Eta Kappa Nu. Mr. Smith serves as the Chairman of the Performing Arts Advisory Council for the University of Notre Dame, the Chairman of the Rife Scholarship Fund, and is a past member of the board for Junior Achievement of the Bay Area. |
