On October 7, 2014 we lost our dear friend, co-founder and partner, Joe Josephson, to pancreatic cancer. At 53 years old Joe was much too young to leave us, but he made an indelible mark on our lives nonetheless. He enjoyed a nearly 30-year career as a strategic advisor working with a wide range of firms on transactions around the globe, yet he was so much more than that – a brilliant scholar, a discerning art collector, an observer and opponent of hubris and fallacy, a citizen of the world; most importantly, a loving father and true friend.
Joe was urbane, effortlessly witty, realistic without falling into cynicism, and always the person you wanted on your side in an intellectual debate. To say that he will be missed by our firm, our clients, his family & friends and all who knew him is a massive understatement. We owe an incredible debt of gratitude to Joe as a co-founder of Union Square Advisors, and we will endeavor to keep his memory and legacy alive by continuing to build our business as he did during his time with us.
